The Senate confirmed Tuesday to Jose Caldero as Superintendent of Police of Puerto Rico, with the only vote against Senator Puerto Rican Independence Party (PIP).
Confirmation received the affirmative vote of the delegations of the Popular Democratic Party and the New Progressive Party, then deque senators of both communities assumed shifts in favor of the nominee.
The final, official vote for confirmation was 21 votes in favor and one against.
It followed the public hearing held yesterday, Monday, the Judiciary Committee, and Senate Veterans Security, in which, besides the support of the majority of the Senators present, Caldero won the backing of three of the organizations representing police assets.
Senate Confirms Cauldron as superintendent
The chairman of the Senate committee said, Miguel Pereira, presented a favorable report and confirmation in the same recounted superintendent's race today and included references to his relationship with this when the senator took the superintendency today.

Caldero says he was "honored"
The new superintendent said he was honored with the support they gave the Senate today and reiterated its commitment to the country.
"I mean now my commitment has to be double after this overwhelming support from senators. It is a very big challenge, but I'm sure with the great men and women of the police we will succeed, "he said shortly after the vote.
He reiterated his commitment to police reform.
"Reform can not be reversed. We have to keep working with that. Now all facets of police having to do with why I are aligned, "he said.
Asked by journalists rejected the argument of the independence senator, Maria de Lourdes Santiago, they needed someone outside the Police to direct the reform provided by the agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice.
"We need to reform the police and we have established guidelines and to comply with them," he said.
